Leafcutter Studios Ltd General Privacy Policy

Leafcutter Studios Ltd (the “Company”) is committed to maintaining robust privacy protections for its users. Our Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) is designed to help you understand how we collect, use and safeguard the information you provide to us and to assist you in making informed decisions when using our Service.

Guiding Principles

Our guiding principle with regards to the users of our service is that we would like to know as little as possible about your real identity. We try to avoid collecting personal information wherever possible and if we do collect it we try to keep it for as short a time as we reasonably can. Inevitably we use tools and services to power our website and apps which may collect information, but we try to limit these as much as possible and make clear to users where they are being used.

If you think we are collecting too much information or there is a way we can provide our services without collecting information then please let us know.

For purposes of this Agreement, “Service” refers to the Company’s service which can be accessed via our website (“the Site”) at http://www.leafcutterstudios.com or through our mobile applications (“the App” or "our Apps").

The terms “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Company.

“You” refers to you, as a user of Service.

By accepting our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use you consent to our collection, storage, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.

I. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Collected information can be generally classified as “Non-Personal Information” and “Personal Information.” Non-Personal Information includes information that cannot be used to personally identify you, such as anonymous usage data, general demographic information we may collect, referring/exit pages and URLs, platform types, preferences you submit and preferences that are generated based on the data you submit and number of clicks. Personal Information includes any information such as your email, username, and password submitted to us via a registration process at the Site or the App, as well as data potentially collected by our software during App usage.

1. Personal Information collected via our software

We only collect personal information from you when you provide it to us. If you create an account in any of our apps then we will use your email address to identify your data.

If you submit a support request to us via support@leafcutterstudios.com we will use your email address to respond to your request. This email address may be stored for a short time as we deal with your request but generally all email addresses and correspondence will be deleted periodically (generally every three months).

2. Non-Personal Information collected via third party software

Our Apps may use software from third party companies that collects information that does not personally identify you. This information is required in order for the App or website to provide its service. By using our apps or website you are authorizing these third-party companies to collect data and you are also accepting their respective privacy policies:

Google Firebase

To enable our Apps to get data updates via the internet we use a technology framework called Firebase which is created and maintained by Google. In order to provide the Firebase services used by our Apps (including Firebase Functions, Firestore, Firebase Messaging and Firebase Hosting) Google may collect data about app users and devices and utilizes technologies including and similar to cookies.

Generally the information collected by Google is not personal information and is required in order to enable Google to provide the services the app uses. Google is GDPR compliant and you can find out more about how Google collects and processes data using the links below:

https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy/

https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/

The most common items of data collected by Firebase are:

  • IP Address

The IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique address (like a postal address) that uniquely identifies your device on an IP network. It is required to send messages back and forth over a network.

  • Instance ID

An instance ID is an identifier that uniquely identifies an installation of an app on your mobile device. Instance IDs give Firebase a way to refer to specific app instances (e.g. when sending messages). Firebase collects and stores these identifiers to enable it to correctly route traffic and keep track of which app instances have received which data.

  • Cookies

Cookies are files with small amount of data that are commonly used as an anonymous unique identifier. These are sent to your browser or device from websites and services that you visit and use and are stored on your device’s internal memory.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect information about visitors to our website and the way they use and interact with it. Google Analytics collects and stores information such as (but not limited to) the pages you visit and the time you spend on them, how you found the site and the links you click on. This Analytics data is collected via JavaScript code embedded in our website pages and does not contain any personally identifiable information. The information is sent to Google's servers and aggregated there for inspection and analysis.

The Google Analytics privacy policy can be found here: https://www.google.com/analytics/learn/privacy.html.

You can find out more about Google Analytics here https://www.google.com/analytics/terms/us.html

3. Specific Device Permissions

Certain versions of our apps require specific permissions from the device they operate on in order to provide the service. These permissions include features such as access to the device microphone and the ability to record audio (Android permissions android.hardware.MICROPHONE and android.hardware.RECORD_AUDIO), access to read the phone state (android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE). These permissions are used only to implement features within the App and we do not collect or store any information through the use of these permissions. The Apple and Google app stores make it clear which permissions an app requires and what you can do to accept or decline their use.

II. HOW WE USE AND SHARE INFORMATION

Personal Information:

Except as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy, we do not sell, trade, rent or otherwise share for marketing purposes your Personal Information with third parties without your consent. In general, the Personal Information you provide to us is used only to help us communicate with you or to identify any account you create in order to use features in our apps. We also aggregate Non-Personal Information in order to track trends and analyze use patterns on the Site and in the App. This Privacy Policy does not limit in any way our use or disclosure of Non-Personal Information and we reserve the right to use and disclose such Non-Personal Information to our partners, advertisers and other third parties at our discretion.

In the event we undergo a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your Personal Information may be among the assets transferred. You acknowledge and consent that such transfers may occur and are permitted by this Privacy Policy, and that any acquirer of our assets may continue to process your Personal Information as set forth in this Privacy Policy. If our information practices change at any time in the future, we will post the policy changes to the Site so that you may opt out of the new information practices. We suggest that you check the Site periodically if you are concerned about how your information is used.
